Almost Perfect’s Treasure Trove cuffs are fashioned from bronze, brass, copper, silver and pewter

"Almost Perfect’s Rose Cecil is an artist and sculptor who uses these forms of art in her jewellery collections. For the new Treasure Trove range, Cecil takes inspiration from the beauty of antiquity and the joy of precious heirlooms. Her rings, pendants and cuffs are fashioned from bronze, brass, copper, silver and pewter, and most pieces can be worn all together or in varying combinations. Rings and cuffs come in varying widths and thicknesses, and in cool and warm metals, so there is something to suit every taste."

Open house – Mousehole five go mad onartist trail

FIVE MOUSEHOLE artists have been inspired to open their studio doors to the public.

The talented quintet have created a mini art trail for visitors to the village as part of Open Studios Cornwall.

From Thursday, May 26, until Sunday, June 5, these creative hubs will be open to the general public.

One of those taking part, Sally Bassett, said the group was offering a small manageable art tour within the larger event.

"It celebrates the inspiration provided by the Mousehole environment," she added.

We love: Almost Perfect

Is it too late to start a wish list for Mothers day? Perhaps if I combine Mothers day, birthday and Christmas together I could have one of these lovely silver bracelets from Almost Perfect...please? (£165 for the bracelet, the ridged rings are rather lovely too).

Our thanks to TWR reader Frances, who tipped us off about the jewellery. Rose Cecil, who runs Almost Perfect, lives and works in the Cornish village of Mousehole (pronounced mowz-all for all our overseas readers, no idea why) and is seriously influenced by the sea. Much of her work features little scraps of shell, slate and other bits found on the beach which sounds wonderfully romantic. She went to Tonga recently to watch the King of Tongas coronation, which influenced the 2008 collection, which sounds a little quirky but we like this sort of behaviour.

Muse June 2008
“The 2008 collection features massive rocks and delicious stones inspired by the beaches of West Penwith. This is the year to walk out in a piece of wearable art.”

Cornwall Today  March 2008

”For a strong, self-defining piece that echoes the big jewellery trend presently hitting both the fashion houses and the high street this necklace and matching earrings will certainly turn heads. Combing rock crystal with river pearls, there is something prism-like about the way the pieces play with light.”

Cornwall Today November 2007
“She uses treasures that she has found on beaches near her home in Mousehole- seaworn slate pebbles and fragments of shell – and combines them with silver, pearls and semi-precious stones. The result is striking fusion of valuable items and disregarded materials.”

Cornish World October/ November 2007

“Keeping Cornwall close to your heart…
Forget stooping to pick stones from the beach in order to feel close to Cornwall, each piece of Almost Perfect jewellery incorporates a little something to make you feel at one with your county… just as there no replicas in nature, no two pieces of Almost Perfect jewellery are the same.

Cornish World December 2007

“Rose Cecil creates unique pieces of jewellery from the discarded treasures of Cornwall.”
